Now that college basketball season is over, who is the true basketball world champion?

Why do we automatically dub the NBA champion as the world champion? They are not the world champion, only the NBA champion.

If we were to dub a true world champion, we have to play all the champions in a tournament. Two best-of-seven rounds.

Here are the seeding, including the most recent champions:

1. WNBA champion: Seattle Storm

4. NCAA men's champion: University of Connecticut

2. NBA champion: LA Lakers

3. NCAA women's champion: Texas A%26amp;M

If we were able to play these matchups for real, who would come out as the true world champion?

Why?|||really you dont think the lakers can beat the unconn huskies, a %26amp;m she-aggies and the seattle storm?

really? you a retard|||take those 4 teams and -heck!- add the #1 ranked high school team in u.s...and the usa today high school all star team..and the silver and bronze medalists in last mens b-ball in olympics [usa won gold ,and those guys are somewhat represented by lakers anyway] to make a 8 team playoff... ..

|||I think you would have to include teams from the Euro leagues, Asian leagues, South American leagues, etc. to determine the world champion. I think it is even worse with baseball where the championship game is literally called the "World Series," even though MLB only includes teams from the US and Canada.

In your scenario, I would have to go with the NBA champion winning it all.|||The real world champions are the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal teams. The Olympics are a global event after all.
