What do you think of the FIFA decision to make the World Champion go into qualifying games?

Brazil as the defending world football champion had to endure the super long south american qualifying games. It was the first time in football history that the champions had to go through qualifying games. I personally think it isn't fair, what if the country can't make it through the qualifying? A world cup without the defending champions would seem a bit strange for me, what say you?|||Some people think that decision has to be with money, FIFA gets more profits if they have the defending world champion in the qualifyng games (?)


I agree with you. It麓s ridiculous to have the world champion into the qualifying. The champion don麓t need to demonstrate anything else|||It's another one of Blatter's stupid half brained ideas.The holders should automatically qualify along with the host Nation as it's their right to defend their trophy.|||I think its a good decision because a lot can happen in 4 years. the defending champions might not be that good after 4 years and other teams may be better than them. look at France. they won in 98, but in 2002 they couldnt even score a goal in the world cup.|||There should be a spot reserved for the title holders. Not too much changes in 4 years. It would be very rare that 11 starters will retire right after they win a world cup. Football also has a lot to do with team chemistry and tactics. I definitely think 30 teams should have to qualify. The defending champions and hosts should automatically qualify
