Why does college football use different bowls rather than a playoff to determine the champion?

It seems stupid to me to use a bowl game system rather than playoff system. It becomes too disputable who the champion is and how they are picked. I don't get the rational behind using the bowl system.|||Because everybody want to get paid!!|||Many feel that there should be a playoff system rather than the bowl games, but the colleges make so much money from the bowl games thhey don't want it to change to a playoff system. Schools get millions of dollars when they are in a bowl game by those who sponsor the bowls. They would not get the money if it was a playoff sustem. So, it's all about money and these bowl sponsors invite not necessarily the most deserving teams to play in their bowl games, but rather they ask the teams they figure will make them the most money. Again, it's all about money unfortunately. Hope I helped.|||its doesnt use the bowl game system to determine the champion. It use one bowl game to determine the champion. ITs because Of Jim delany the big 10 commissioner. The powers that be in college football believe that a playoff system will devalue the regular season, as well as the traditional of the bowl games. Therefore they will not change the bowl games. Just be happy that they even give you what they have now with the #1 and #2 team meeting in the national championship game. Before the BCS they didnt even gaurantee you that much. The truth is the all the money the bowl games and especially the Rose Bowl makes. They essentially do not want to devalue the Rose Bowl, which if you look is the big cash cow for the big 10.|||MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, for the bowl organizers, ESPN, and the big six conferences (and soon the mid-majors).

and

The NCAA lost a law suit, by Georgia and Oklahoma, in 1984 over TV revenues. This begat the BCS. NCAA's afraid of another law suit. Now Georgia's the big champion for dumping the BCS.

Believe it or not, Joe Paterno began yelling for a playoff in 1972. No one listened.|||$$$$$$$$$$. I highly doubt a playoff system would be able to put together a package that would be as lucrative to the schools involved. That's why the Athletic Directors of most major schools would rather stick to the bowl format.|||They make too much money off of the bowl games to scrap them. I personally think they should use some of bowl games as part of a playoff but they're the "experts".|||Money. Advertising and endorsements.|||Because everyone wants there money

bowl games have alot of money in it|||MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY|||playoffs would go to summer and bowls generate a lot of money.|||Stupid Rules There should be a playoff but they dont|||cause they are dumb. and there are alot more teams in college to deal with.|||Money.

It's a hit, don't give me that do-goody-good bullsh%26amp;t.
