When did WCW start reconizing the NWA and WCW Champion as two different Champions? And why?

I never thought about it before but I got to reading into some history from 1992 and 1993 and they had been recognizing one person as the NWA Champion and another as the WCW Champion. I figured it started when Flair left with the belt for the WWF but I've never found out for sure.|||yeah it was when flair left for wwf, they started a new belt called the wcw international belt and when the nwa title belt came back they kept the international belt and called it the wcw world heavyweight championship and started a new title history as well and instead of using the nwa title used the wcw title|||IDK..
